Theaterisation of India’s military is likely to be launched by April this year.
According to a report, the Air Defence Command and the Maritime Theatre Command are set to be launched by April.
Theaterisation of India’s military is being planned to optimise the Country’s military’s resources amid rise in security threats.
Notably, tensions along the Line of Control (LoC) with Pakistan and Line of Actual Control (LAC) with China have been on the rise in recent times.
The Air Defence Command is likely to come up at Prayagraj (Allahabad) in Uttar Pradesh in April.
The Air Defence Command will be responsible for air defence resources of all the three services – Army, Navy and Air Force.
It will also be reportedly tasked with protecting India’s military assets from airborne attacks.
Commander-in-chief of the Air Defence Command will be a three-star Indian Air Force officer.

On the other hand, the Maritime Theatre Command will reportedly come up at Karwar in Karnataka along the west coast.
The Maritime Theatre Command will become operational in May.
The Maritime Theatre Command will be responsible for securing India from seaborne threats.
It will have the Army and Air Force elements under its command.
Commander-in-chief of the Maritime Theatre Command will be a three-star Indian Navy officer.
