A man in Rampur district of Uttar Pradesh has lodged an FIR against his wife for allegedly celebrating Pakistan’s victory over India in the T20 World Cup match held on October 24.

The man, Ishan Miya, in his police complaint alleged that his wife Rabia Shamsi and her family burst crackers after Pakistan’s victory in the T20 World Cup match against India. 

“An FIR has been registered after a case of making fun of the Indian cricket team came to our notice on the basis of a complaint made by a man,” police informed. 

A case has been registered under Section 153-A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Section 67 of the Information Technology (Amendment) Act.

Notably, Ishan Miyan and his wife are reportedly living separately. A dowry case has also been lodged against the husband by his wife. 

Incidents of celebrating Pakistan’s victory over India were reported from several places across India including Agra and Jammu & Kashmir. 

Celebratory videos of Kashmiri MBBS students in Srinagar also went viral across social media platforms. 

In Agra, three Kashmiri students studying engineering were arrested.
