Pakistan cricketer Hasan Ali has been subjected to vicious abuse across social media platforms following the team’s loss to Australia in the semi-final of the ongoing T20 world cup.

Hasan Ali was subjected to vicious online abuse on Thursday evening after his costly dropped catch of Matthew Wade, that ultimately cost Pakistan the match.

Hasan Ali was targeted on religious ground for reportedly being a Shia Muslim in a Sunni majority Pakistan.

The 27-year-old Pakistan speedster was also targeted for marrying an Indian.

Hasan Ali married Samiya Hasan Ali, an Indian national, who was born and brought up in Haryana.

Hasan Ali and Samiya Arzoo tied the knot in Dubai in 2019. Samiya is a flight engineer with Emirates Airlines and her family is settled in Faridabad, where she completed her education from.

Samiya and Ali met in Dubai a couple of years ago and they started dating each other. The couple dated each other for around two years before getting married.

After Hasan Ali dropped Matthew Wade’s catch, his wife Samiya Arzoo was brutally trolled. Along with her, Pakistani player Shoaib Malik’s wife Sania Mirza was also trolled.

At the post-match presentation, Babar reflected on the dropped catch and said, “I think if we give such teams a chance in the back end, it is going to be costly. The turning point was that dropped catch. Had we taken it, the scenario could have been different.”

Later in the press conference, the Pakistani skipper also backed Hasan saying, “I don’t feel like that. He (Hasan Ali) is our main bowler and has won many matches for Pakistan. Players do drop catches sometimes. He is fighting it out and I will keep backing him.”
