Sitting judge of Supreme Court, Justice Mohan M Shantanagoudar, passed away on Saturday.

Justice Shantanagoudar was 62 years old at the time of his demise.

According to media reports, the judge breathed his last at Medanta Hospital in Haryana’s Gurugam.

It has been reported that the judge in the top court was suffering from prolonged illness.

He was recently infected by viral pneumonia and died on Saturday.

Justice Shantanagoudar was the ninth senior-most judge of the Supreme Court.

Born on May 5, 1958, Justice Shantanagoudar started his career as an advocate in September 1980.

Before shifting to Bengaluru, Justice Shantanagoudar had been practicing at Dharwad.

On May 12, 2003, Shantanagoudar was appointed as an additional judge of the Karnataka High Court.

He was appointed as a permanent judge on September 24, 2004.

He also served as the Chief Justice of the Kerala High Court in 2016.

In 2007, Justice Shantanagoudar was elevated as a judge of the Supreme Court of India.

Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan has expressed his condolence at the demise of Justice Shantanagoudar.
“Former Kerala High Court Chief Justice and sitting judge of the Supreme Court, Justice Mohan M Shantanagoudar had made indelible contributions in the administration of justice. We have lost a legal luminary. Condolences to his family and loved ones,” Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan tweeted.
