Just days after creating a major row over his “ripped jeans” remark, Uttarakhand CM Tirath Singh Rawat seems to have more ‘absurd’ remarks in his arsenal.

In a latest remark, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat said that people should have produced more children to get extra ration during the coronavirus pandemic.

“Those having 10 children got 50 kg while those with 20 got one quintal. People with two children got 10 kg,” Tirath Singh Rawat said.

“When there was time, you produced only two. Why didn’t you produce 20?” Rawat asked.

This remark of the Uttarakhand CM has drawn much flak including that of the Congress party.

“The remark of the newly appointed Uttarakhand Chief Minister on producing 20 children shows shallow mindset of the BJP,” the Congress party said.

Not only this, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat further made a major goof up.

According to the Uttarakhand CM, it was not the British who enslaved India for 200 years, instead it were the Americans.

Speaking at a programme at Nainital in Uttarakhand, the Rawat apparently confused Britain with the United States, saying America ruled over India for over 200 years.

“America, which enslaved us for 200 years, ruled all over the world… the empire on which the sun never sets, is today struggling,” Rawat had said on Sunday.

The new Chief Minister of Uttarakhand – Tirath Singh Rawat had earlier stoked a controversy after making derogatory remarks on women wearing torn jeans.

Uttarakhand CM Tirath Singh Rawat had said that due to a lack of values, young people, including women, follow strange fashion trends these days by wearing jeans ripped at the knees.

“Showing bare knees by wearing ripped jeans just to look like rich kids is the value given now which is just a race towards westernisation when the western world today are following us. Ripped jeans pave the way for societal breakdown and is a bad example for children,” the Uttarakhand CM had said.

Rawat’s derogatory comments on women wearing torn jeans has invited a lot of criticism.
