With the second wave of COVID-19 hitting India hard, as many as 102 devotees, who participated at the Kumbh Mela have tested positive for COVID-19.
Thousands of devotees, who have gathered for the Mahakumbh were seen violating laid down COVID-19 protocols.
Over 100 devotees, who participated in the ongoing Kumbh Mela, have tested COVID-19 positive as there has been rampant violation of the laid down protocols.
Devotees were seen not following the basic protocols of face mask or social distancing.
The Uttarakhand government is finding it hard to get people to follow the rules of thermal screening and wearing masks.

Over 31 lakh devotees took a dip in the Mela during the second ‘Shahi Snan’ on Monday.
102 devotees out of 18,169, who underwent COVID-19 testing between 11:30am on Sunday till 5pm on Monday, tested COVID-19 positive.
Moreover, at many places thermal screening was reportedly not conducted despite there being CCTV cameras in the area to ensure implementation of rules.
Uttarakhand DGP – Ashok Kumar said, “We are trying our best to get the guidelines followed by the people. From the security point of view, this is the biggest challenge for the Uttarakhand police. Due to Covid-19, almost 50 percent less devotees have arrived in the Kumbh. ”

A total of 1,61,736 new Covid-19 cases have been reported on Tuesday, pushing India’s tally of cases to 1,36,89,453, according to data updated by the Health Ministry.
With 879 fatalities in the last 24 hours, the death toll increased to 1,71,058.
