India has been hit hard by the second wave of COVID-19.
India is now the second worst-hit nation in the world after overtaking Brazil on Monday.
Along with the number of COVID-19 positive cases, the death toll is also on a sharp rise.
On Tuesday, India reported 161,736 new cases and 879 deaths.
Crematoriums in the worst hit States of India are working overtime to dispose the bodies of the victims.
Bodies continue to pile up, as crematoriums are now finding it difficult to meet the daily death tally.
Families of many victims in most cases need to wait for as long as 4 to 6 hours to cremate the bodies of their loved ones.
Administrations of the crematoriums fear that the COVID-19 situation in the Country may get further worse.
Chhattisgarh, one of the badly hit States, has opened 14 new centres in the capital city of Raipur to cremate bodies of Covid-19 victims.
Earlier on Monday, videos of victims’ bodies getting piled up in a hospital went viral in the social media.
On Sunday, videos circulated on social media showed bodies of Covid-19 patients piled up in Ambedkar Hospital in Raipur, reflecting the alarming situation.
The situation is same in almost all the worst hit States in the Country – Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh or Delhi.

A total of 1,61,736 new Covid-19 cases have been reported on Tuesday, pushing India’s tally of cases to 1,36,89,453, according to data updated by the Health Ministry.
With 879 fatalities in the last 24 hours, the death toll increased to 1,71,058.
