South Indian movie star Puneeth Rajkumar was laid to rest on Sunday morning with state honours at Sree Kanteerava Studios in Bengaluru. 

Kannada movie actor Puneeth Rajkumar died aged 46 years of a massive heart attack on Friday. 

Karnataka chief minister Basavaraj Bommai and a massive crowd of fans were present at the studio to pay their last respect to the late star. 

After Puneeth’s demise, a wave of mourning ran through the entire film industry and the state of Karnataka.

Puneeth Rajkumar suffered a cardiac arrest while working out in the gym on Friday morning. 

After that he fainted. He was admitted to the ICU of Vikram Hospital. Puneeth could not be cured even after much effort of doctors and his demise was announced at 2:30 pm. 

Son of matinee idol Rajkumar, Puneeth is also lovingly called ‘Appu’ and ‘Power Star’ by his fans. He was associated with the silver screen since he was a child. 

The 46-year-old actor has been the lead star in 29 films since his 2002 acting debut with ‘Appu’, with his last release being ‘Yuvarathnaa’, which was released in April earlier this year.  

His other notable performances included – ‘Raam’, ‘Hudugaru’, and ‘Anjani Putra’.
