A nurse in Portugal has died within 48 hours of receiving the Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine.

41-year-old Sonia Acevedo had received the vaccine on December 30 and died on January 1 at her residence.

Acevedo’s death has led to fears about the safety of the Pfizer vaccine among people.

She worked as a nurse in the pediatric department at the Portuguese Institute of Oncology in Porto.

Acevedo’s father Abilio Acevedo has demanded a probe by the authorities into the sudden death of his daughter.

”She was okay. She didn’t suffer from any health problems,” a report quoted Abilio Acevedo as saying.

“She didn’t have any symptoms even after receiving the Covid-19 vaccine. I don’t know what happened. I want to know what led to my daughter’s death,” said the father who is in shock.

American drug maker Pfizer had claimed that its vaccine was 95 per cent effective and had no serious side effects.

Pfizer had developed the vaccine with its partner BioNTech.

The vaccine that was developed in a record 10 months’ time is administered in two shots within a gap of 21 days.

The UK was the first country to approve the vaccine for mass use in the second week of December last year.
