India and Bangladesh have signed as many as 7 agreements during the virtual summit between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Bangladesh counterpart Sheikh Hasina.
The seven agreements signed between both the nations include areas of hydrocarbons, agriculture, textiles and community development.
Prime Minister Modi and Bangladesh Prime Sheikh Hasina also jointly inaugurated the re-opening Haldibari (West Bengal) – Chilahati (Bangladesh) rail link.
The railway line from Haldibari in West Bengal to Chilahati in Bangladesh had been lying defunct since 1965, after rail-links between India and erstwhile East-Pakistan was snapped following the breakout of the 1965 Indo-Pak war.
Prime Minister Modi and Sheikh Hasina also inaugurated the Bangabandhu-Bapu Digital Exhibition.
The exhibition will celebrate the life and legacies of Mahatma Gandhi and Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
This exhibition will be displayed in New Delhi. Subsequently, it would also be on display at different locations in Bangladesh, the United Nations and would finally culminate at Kolkata in 2022.

Modi and Sheikh Hasina also released a commemorative stamp on Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, who is regarded as Bangladesh’s ‘Father of the Nation’.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh Prime Minister Shiekh Hasina has invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the 50th Independence Day celebrations of Bangladesh on March 26, 2021.
“Bangladesh is on the verge of celebrating 50 years as an independent nation. Your (PM Modi) visit to Dhaka on 26th March, 2021 will be the crowning glory of our joint commemoration of Bangladesh’s Liberation War 1971,” said Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina also paid tributes to the martyrs of the Bangladesh’s Liberation War.
“I pay deep homage to the 3 million martyrs who laid their lives. I pay tribute to the members of the Indian armed forces martyred in the 1971 war. I pay my gratitude to the Government and people of India who extended wholehearted support for the cause of our liberation,” Sheikh Hasina said.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi while speaking at the summit has stressed for strengthening the ties between both the nations.
“Bangladesh is a significant pillar of our ‘Neighbourhood First’ policy. To strengthen relations with Bangladesh has been a priority for me since the first day,” Prime Minister Modi said.
