The Income Tax department website crashed briefly as people rushed to link their PAN cards with Aadhaar on the last day on Wednesday.
The official website of the income tax department https://www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in was opening, however, the site to link PAN card with Aadhaar was not working.
The last date for linking the Permanent Account Number (PAN) with Aadhaar is today (March 31, 2021).
If you do not link your PAN with your Aadhaar number by the end of the day on Wednesday, you will have a pay a penalty of up to Rs 1,000 starting tomorrow to get the two documents linked.
If you are a PAN cardholder and have an Aadhaar number, as per the law, you are required to intimate it to the Income Tax department.
If you fail to link your PAN card with Aadhaar, your PAN will become invalid after March 31, 2021.
