With Omicron already being a major concern, scientists in France have found a new variant of the COVID-19 and have called it IHU.

The IHU according to researchers contain 46 mutations which is even more than Omicron and is more resistant to vaccines. It is also dubbed more infectious.

As per reports, 12 cases have been spotted so far near Marseille. Of which, the first case has been linked to travel to the African country Cameroon.

As per some of the tests on it, the strain carries the N501Y mutation which was first seen on the Alpha variant.

Experts believe that due to this it can be more transmissible

The new variant is yet to be spotted in other countries.

Although the variant can be a major threat, cases have not been reported in countries so far.

The World Health Organisation has also not labelled it as a “variant under investigation”.
