Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) supremo Sharad Pawar has been rushed to a hospital in Mumbai as he felt unwell.
The 80-year-old veteran political leader will undergo a surgery at Breach Candy hospital in Mumbai on Wednesday (March 31).
Pawar, a cancer survivor, had undergone surgery for the illness in 2004.
The news of the veteran NCP leader’s illness has been confirmed by NCP spokesperson and Maharashtra minority affairs minister Nawab Malik.
Malik announced that the doctors at Breach Candy hospital have detected a “problem” in Sharad Pawar’s gallbladder.
“Sharad Pawar was feeling a little uneasy due to a pain in his abdomen last evening and was therefore taken to Breach Candy Hospital for a check-up. Upon diagnosis, it came to light that he has a problem in his gallbladder,” Malik said.

“He (Sharad Pawar) is on blood-thinning medication which is now being stopped due to this issue. He will be admitted to the hospital on March 31 and an endoscopy and surgery will be conducted. All his programmes stand cancelled until further notice,” NCP spokesperson Malik added.

Meanwhile, all engagements of Pawar have been cancelled.
On Sunday, Union home minister Amit Shah left the people hanging after he declined to comment upon a purported secret meeting with Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar amid the crisis in the Maharashtra coalition government.
“Everything need not be made public,” Union home minister Amit Shah replied to the media when asked about the secret meeting in Ahmedabad on Saturday.
