The mighty Mount Everest has now become higher.
The new revised height of the Mount Everest now is 8,848.86 or 29,031.69 feet.
The revised height has put Mount Everest .86 metres (almost three feet) higher than the most commonly used measure of Everest’s height of 8,848 metres that came from a survey conducted by India in the early 1950s.
Nepal and China made the announcement of the revised height of Mount Everest on Tuesday jointly after a joint exercise to measure the world’s highest peak.
The new height is based on trigonometric and GPS measurements carried out by Nepal and China.

Nepal had sent a team of surveyors to the top of the peak in May 2019, while China sent a team earlier this year.
It was the first time Nepal had independently carried out such survey amid speculation of a possible change in height due to global warming and a 2015 earthquake.
“We can be confident that this is the most accurate height of Everest that we have ever had,” said Susheel Dangol, Nepal’s chief survey officer, who headed the project.
During Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit in 2019, Nepal and China had agreed to jointly announce the revised height of the world’s tallest peak.
