Imphal: The Manipur government, in its fresh campaign against illegal immigration, has identified 24 individuals from Myanmar residing in Govajang village, Tengnoupal district.
Chief Minister N Biren Singh announced the discovery on social media, stating that a joint team led by the Tengnoupal District Commissioner conducted a search and verification drive in the village.
The team, which included representatives from the Assam Rifles and Moreh Police Station, identified 24 individuals (8 men and 16 women) originally from Myanmar.

Their biometric data was collected for further investigation.
This operation follows a previous combing operation conducted on July 14 by Manipur Police, Assam Rifles, and Border Security Forces. That operation, targeting 32 houses in Govajang Kuki village, identified 60 undocumented Myanmar nationals, primarily elderly people and children.

The CM said that the government intends to continue biometric verification exercises in Moreh and surrounding areas to address illegal immigration concerns.
