Apparently, the Taliban has made its stand clear on the issue of Kashmir, days after wresting power in Afghanistan. 

Taliban has termed the Kashmir issue as a “bilateral and internal matter” of India and Pakistan. 

The Taliban is unlikely to focus on Kashmir, news agency ANI said quoting people familiar with the development. 

There have been apprehensions that the takeover of Afghanistan by the Taliban may embolden militants in Kashmir Valley and boost pan-Islamist terror groups in the region.

Security experts are of the view that Taliban’s return to power in Afghanistan will allow Pakistan’s spy agency ISI to shift terror training camps from Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir to Afghanistan. 

Kabul fell to the Taliban on Sunday completing their takeover of the country in a lightning offensive. 

Meanwhile, the United Nations has urged the Taliban to keep its promises on human and women rights. 

Talks continued Tuesday between the Taliban and several Afghan government officials, including former President Hamid Karzai and Abdullah Abdullah, who once headed the country’s negotiating council.
