In one of the worst attacks on the Sikh community in Afghanistan Wednesday by the Islamic State (IS), 25 people were killed and one of the three attackers is suspected to be from Kerala.
The central intelligence agencies have identified the attacker as Mohammed Muhsin.
The information was shared with the agencies by his family.

al Naba, an Islamic State magazine, on Friday published a picture of the suicide attackers.
One of the pictures was identified as Abu Khalid al-Hindi and Muhsin’s parents claimed it to be their son.
A senior central agency officer informed that Muhsin’s mother received a message over Telegram from an IS associate.
The message claimed that Muhsin attained martyrdom in Wednesday’s Kabul attack.
“However, when we asked her to show the message she said she had deleted it out of fear,” The Indian Express reported quoting a senior central agency official.
Sources have informed that two Muhsins joined IS from Kerala and said that the Kabul attacker should not be confused with the one that was killed in a US airstrike in July 2019.
“The one killed in 2017 was an engineering graduate from Mallapuram. He had joined the IS in 2017,” sources added.
“The one who attacked the gurdwara belonged to Trikkarippur in Kasargod district. He had left for Afghanistan in 2018 to join IS,” intelligence sources added.
