Kidambi Srikanth, on Saturday scripted history by becoming the first Indian male to enter the final of the BWF World Championship.

Srikanth entered into the final of the BWF World Championship in the men’s singles category event held at Huelva in Spain.

Srikanth defeated fellow countryman Lakshya Sen 17-21, 21-14, 21-17 in the semi-final of the event.

In the final, Srikanth will face winner of the second semi-final, which will be played between Anders Antonsen of Denmark and Loh Kean of Singapore.

Former world number 1, Srikanth, is the first Indian male player to fight for the prestigious title.

On the other hand, Lakshya Sen joins Prakash Padukone and BS Praneeth as a bronze medal winner.

PV Sindhu won two silvers, two bronze and gold in 2019 in the prestigious event.

Meanwhile, women’s doubles pair of Jwala Gutta and Ashwini Ponnappa had also won a bronze in 2011.

Saina Nehwal had also won a silver and a bronze earlier in the event.
