“Is the BJP conspiring to kill me? They (Election Commission) have even removed my director, security,” said West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee at rally in Bankura on Tuesday.

“Will the Home Minister run the country or decide who will get arrested or beaten up, or will he decide which agency will chase whom?” Mamata Banerjee said.

Launching an all-out attack on the BJP, Mamata Banerjee accused Union Home Minister Amit Shah of interfering in the functioning of the Election Commission.

Taking a dig at Amit Shah, Mamata Banerjee asked whether he was actually running the central poll panel.

“Who is running the Election Commission? I hope it’s not you, Amit Shah. We want a free and fair election. He’s intervening in the day-to-day working of the EC,” Mamata Banerjee said.

“Farmers have been protesting for 6 months now, however, the ministers are not holding talks with them. All the ministers are here, in Bengal, where they have booked hotels and conspiring to kill me, destroy TMC and how to file cases against TMC with the help of EC,” alleged Mamata Banerjee.

Mamata Banerjee attended the election rally at Bankura on a wheelchair as she is still recovering from the injuries she sustained following an ‘attack’ on her at Nandigram while campaigning.

While campaigning in Nandigram last week, Mamata Banerjee had suffered injuries on her leg and shoulder in an ‘attack’ and had to be briefly admitted to a hospital in Kolkata.

She had alleged that she was manhandled by 4-5 men. Mamata Banerjee’s TMC blamed the Election Commission for removing the Director General of Police a day before the incident.
