Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said that the fight against coronavirus in the country has been people-driven.

While addressing the nation in his Mann Ki Baat programme, Modi said that people have helped and motivated each other in order to fight against the global coronavirus pandemic.

“India’s fight against Corona is people-driven, in the truest sense of the term,” Modi said.

Today at each and every place, in neighbourhood lanes, people have come forward to help each other,” he further said.

“From food for the underprivileged, arranging rations, ensuring lockdown, arrangements in hospitals to manufacturing medical equipment indigenously…the entire country is marching ahead together in the same direction, towards a single common objective,” Modi added.

“Collective applause, Thaalis, lamps, candles are reflective of a rising sentiment that has inspired countrymen to be altruistic, motivating each and everyone on the way,” he added.

The prime minister also praised the roles of household helps, autorickshaw drivers and labourers and said that our lives would have been difficult without them.

He also said that people across the world are now turning towards India’s age-old practices of Yoga and Ayurveda for taking care of their health.

“People across the world are paying special attention to the importance of India’s Ayurveda and Yoga. Just look at the social media… how people everywhere are discussing India’s Ayurveda and Yoga to boost immunity,” he added.
