The Indian Railways on Tuesday launched a mega recruitment drive to employ people in 1.4 lakh vacancies.

The existing 21 Railway Recruitment Boards (RRB) will conduct recruitment in three phases.

The Union ministry of railways has issued a statement saying that more than 2.44 crores candidates across the country will appear in recruitment examinations for different posts in the Indian railways.

The railways will hold the first phase of the exam from December 15 till 18 for isolated and ministerial categories, a report stated.

This will be followed by exams for posts in the non-technical popular category from December 28 till March 2021 and the third recruitment for Level-1 from April till June 2021.

The recruitment boards will follow all Covid-19 protocols while conductive a recruitment drive of such massive proportion amidst the ongoing pandemic.

They are also taking measures to accommodate candidates in their home states so that they do not have to travel a long distance to reach their exam centres.

Railways will also be operating special exam trains to cater to the travel requirements of the candidates.

The chief secretaries of different state governments will ensure that the local administrations extend all support to RRBs for conducting the exams.

“We will not allow candidates having a high temperature to enter the exam hall,” said a railway official.

“We will reschedule the exams for such candidates and intimate them about the date and venue,’ he said.
