In order to provide assistance to those in need during the COVID-19 lockdown in Mumbai, the Indian Navy provided ration to the state government authorities recently.
The packets of rations, which consisted of basic food items, were provided for distribution amongst stranded migrant labourers.
The office of the district collector for Mumbai had earlier requested the Indian Navy’s assistance to provide relief to the large number of migrant labourers who are stranded during the lockdown.
Acting on the request, the Western Naval Command promptly arranged around 250 ration packets that contained adequate quantities of food items.
These packets were handed over to the local authorities near Musafir Khana and at the Collector Office near Asiatic Library.
The distribution points were set up at Cuffe Parade and Kalba Devi.
Another 500 packets of ration were again provided on Wednesday to the local authorities and these were also distributed amongst the stranded construction workers at Kamathipura area.
