Indian Army joined the multinational military exercise Shantir Ogroshena 2021 (Front Runner of Peace) in Bangladesh.

The multinational military exercise commenced on Sunday at Bangabandhu Senanibas.

The event has been organized to commemorate the birth centenary of Bangladesh’s ‘Father of the Nation’ Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and mark the glorious 50 years of liberation.

The Indian Army contingent has 30 personnel.

Apart from the Indian Army, the multinational military exercise has also been joined by contingents of Royal Bhutan Army, Sri Lankan Army and Bangladesh Army.

The exercise will continue till April 12, 2021.

Military observers from USA, UK, Turkey, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Singapore will also be in attendance throughout the exercise, the Union defence ministry said in a statement.

The aim of the exercise is to strengthen the procedures and enhance interoperability amongst neighbourhood countries to ensure robust peacekeeping operations in the region.

The armies of all the participating nations will share their valuable experiences and refine their drills & procedures in Peacekeeping operations.

The Indian Army contingent reached Dhaka for the military exercise Shantir Ogroshena 2021 on April 3.

The Indian Army delegation, comprising of 30 personnel, was formally welcomed by the Bangladesh Army in Dhaka with bouquet of flowers.
