Indian women's hockey team

The Indian women’s hockey team lost to Argentina 1-2 at Tokyo Olympics on Wednesday.

It was a spirited performance from the Indian women’s team in the mega event as the team was able to earn a goal against Argentina.

However, a brace from Argentina captain Barrionuevo helped them overturn the lead and win the game.

Now, the Indian women’s hockey team will fight for bronze on August 6 against Great Britain.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the Indian women’s hockey team played with grit and showcased their great skill in the event.

PM Modi has wished “best of luck” to the team for their next game.

One of the things we will remember for is the stupendous performance by our Hockey teams. Today and through the Games, our Women’s Hockey team played with grit and showcased great skill. Proud of the team. Best of luck for the game ahead and for future endeavours,” PM Modi tweeted.

“You win some, you lose some! But the performance was nonetheless awesome!  Though India lost to Argentina 1-2 in the semi-finals of Women’s #Hockey, they will fight for #Bronze on 6th August, against Great Britain! Let’s cheer for them, let’s #Cheer4India,” MyGovIndia tweeted.

Cheering up the country’s women’s hockey team, Union minister Kire Rijiju said they have already made India proud by reaching the semi-finals at the Tokyo Olympics 2020 in women’s hockey.

“Girls, cheer up and don’t lose your heart. You all have made India proud by reaching the semi-finals at the #Tokyo2020 Olympics in Women’s Hockey! You can still come back with medal. I recall how our girls were geared up for Tokyo Olympics from the very beginning,” Rijiju tweeted.
