At least four persons have died after a fire broke out at a private hospital in Maharashtra’s Thane.
The fire broke out in the wee hours of Wednesday.
The devastating fire broke out at the Prime Criticare Hospital in Mumbra at around 3.40 am.
Several fire tenders rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control.
“Today at around 03:40 am fire broke out at Prime Criticare Hospital at Mumbra in Thane. Four dead during shifting of patients to another hospital,” informed Thane Municipal Corporation.

The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
The fire destroyed the first floor of the hospital.
There was no COVID-19 patient admitted in the hospital.
Twenty patients were rescued from the hospital – six of them were in the ICU.
Maharashtra Government has announced ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh for the victims’ families.
Those injured in the incident will receive Rs 1 lakh as compensation.

Maharashtra Minister Jitendra Awhad informed that a high-level enquiry committee has been constituted to investigate the incident.
The enquiry committee will comprise of officials of the city’s civic body, police and medical officials.
