Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has tested positive for COVID-19.

Manmohan Singh has been admitted to AIIMS-Delhi.

Manmohan Singh was admitted to the AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Science) at 5pm on Monday.

Manmohan Singh’s health condition is being monitored by a team of specialists.

Notably, Manmohan Singh was vaccinated and took both doses.

On Sunday, Manmohan Singh had written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, highlighting five suggestions for combating the second wave of Covid-19 in India.

In his first suggestion, Manmohan Singh said that enough orders for COVID-19 vaccine must be placed well in advance to procure it on time.

“If we want to vaccinate a target number in this period, we should place enough orders in advance so that the producers can adhere to an agreed schedule of supply,” Manmohan Singh said in his first suggestion.

Manmohan Singh also suggested that the Centre may retain 10 per cent for distribution based on emergency needs “but other than that, states should have a clear signal of likely availability so that they can plan their roll out.”

Manmohan Singh also appealed the Centre to assist vaccine producers “with funds and other concessions” so that they expand their manufacturing facilities quickly.
