Former Jammu and Kashmir Governor Jagmohan passed away in Delhi at midnight on Monday.
He was 94.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday condoled the demise of the former Governor.
PM Modi has termed Jagmohan’s death as ‘monumental loss for the nation`.
While expressing his condolence, PM Modi wrote on his Twitter handle on Tuesday: “Jagmohan Ji`s demise is a monumental loss for our nation. He was an exemplary administrator and a renowned scholar. He always worked towards the betterment of India.”
“His ministerial tenure was marked by innovative policy making. Condolences to his family and admirers. Om Shanti,” the PM added.

Union home minister Amit Shah has also condoled Jagmohan’s demise.
“Shri Jagmohan Ji will always be remembered for his remarkable tenure as the Governor of J&K. An able administrator and later a devoted politician who took key decisions for the nation’s peace & progress. India mourns his sad demise. My deepest condolences to his family. Om Shanti,” Shah tweeted.

Jagmohan was honoured with Padma Shri in 1971, Padma Bhushan in 1977 and Padma Vibhushan in 2016.
He served as Jammu and Kashmir Governor for two terms.
He was appointed as the Jammu and Kashmir Governor for the first time in 1984 and remained in the post till 1989, and then from January 1990-May 1990.
Jagmohan was elected to the Lok Sabha for the first time in 1996.
He served as the Union minister for urban development and tourism.
Born on September 25, 1927, Jagmohan Malhotra was popularly known as Jagmohan.
He was a former civil servant and held several top-level posts.
