Former Governor of Haryana and Bihar – Jagannath Pahadia has died of COVID-19. 

The veteran Congress leader had also served as the Chief Minister of Rajasthan during 1980-81. 

Jagannath Pahadia died at the age of 89 late on Wednesday night. 

Jagannath Pahadia passed away at a private hospital in Delhi.

Notably, Pahadia’s wife is also undergoing treatment for COVID-19. 

The Rajasthan Government has announced one-day mourning on Thursday during which government offices will be closed and the national flag will fly at half-mast. 

Meanwhile, top leaders of the country mourned the demise of Jagannath Pahadia. 

PM Narendra Modi tweeted: “Saddened by the demise of former Rajasthan CM, Shri Jagannath Pahadia Ji. In his long political and administrative career, he made noteworthy contributions to further social empowerment. Condolences to his family and supporters. Om Shanti.”

Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot tweeted: “Extreamly saddened by the demise of Jagannath Pahadia. He served the country for a long time, be it as a Chief Minister, or as a Governor or as a union minister. He was one of the seniormost leaders of the Country.” 

Pahadia left us because of COVID. I am very shocked by his demise. He had a lot of affection for me right from the beginning,” added Gehlot.
