After 18 healthcare workers including two doctors and 16 nurses tested positive for COVID-19, the Delhi government has shut down the Delhi State Cancer Institute (DSCI).

The DSCI authorities, on the other hand, are trying to shift 19 of its patients to separate hospitals.

DSCI medical superintendent BL Sherwal said that the hospital has been shut down temporarily as a precautionary measure and they are sanitising the hospital.

“We are making arrangement to shift our 19 cancer patients to another private hospital and we are in constant touch with authorities of Dharmshila Superspecility hospital,” Sherwal added.

Sherwal further informed that before the patients are shifted, they would be tested for COVID-19 as cancer patients are at a high risk of getting infected.

“They would be shifted only if their COVID-19 test reports turn negative,” Sherwal added.

Sherwal further informed that the hospital authorities are taking care of its healthcare workers infected by the coronavirus and they have been admitted at various hospitals of Delhi.
