CPI-M stalwart Sitaram Yechury’s son has died due to COVID-19 on Thursday morning. 

This tragic news was confirmed by Sitaram Yechury. 

He informed that his eldest son Ashish Yechury died due to COVID-19 on Thursday morning. 

Ashish Yechury died due to COVID-19 at Medanta Hospital in Gurgaon near New Delhi. 

Ashish Yechury, the eldest son of CPI-M veteran Sitaram Yechury, was just 34-years-old at the time of his demise. 

Ashish Yechury passed away at 5:30am on Thursday. 

Sitaram Yechury thanked all who treated his son and tried to save his life. 

Sitaram Yechury said: “It is with great sadness that I have to inform that I lost my elder son, Ashish Yechury to COVID-19 this morning. I want to thank all those who gave us hope and who treated him – doctors, nurses, frontline health workers, sanitation workers and innumerable others who stood by us.” 

Sitaram Yechury later tweeted: “I bid goodbye to my son, Ashish (Biku) at noon today. I thank all of you who have shared our sorrow. I thank everybody who gave us strength to be able to face this dark hour. I know that I am not alone in my grief, with this pandemic consuming countless lives.”

Meanwhile, condolences started to pour in as soon as the news of the demise of Sitaram Yechury’s son broke. 

PM Narendra Modi tweeted: “Condolences to Shri Sitaram Yechury Ji and his family on the tragic and untimely demise of his son, Ashish. Om Shanti.”

Senior Congress leader Shashi Tharoor tweeted: “Devastated by the news @SitaramYechury @seemay. There is no greater loss for a parent to endure. May you find the strength to bear the inexpressible grief of your loss. My heart goes out to you at this painful time.” 

DMK president – MK Stalin tweeted: “Deeply saddened and pained to hear about the loss of Ashish Yechury. I offer my heartfelt condolences to Comrade @SitaramYechury, his family and friends at this difficult time.” 

AAP leader Raghav Chadda tweeted: “Terribly devastating news. My heartfelt condolences Mr.Yechury (@SitaramYechury @seemay). May you find strength to bear this irreparable loss.” 

Telegu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu tweeted: “My deepest condolences on the loss of your son, @SitaramYechury ji. Our thoughts are with you and your family. May your strength prevail to help you through this difficult time.”
