With the detection of 82,170 more positive cases and 1,039 deaths in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID19 tally on Monday crossed the 60 lakh-mark with a total of 60,74,702 cases.

Out of the total positive cases registered in the country so far, 9,62,640 are currently active.

A total of 50,16,520 patients, who were earlier infected by COVID19, have been discharged from the hospitals or Covid care facilities across the country.

The deadly disease has so far claimed the lives of a total of 95,542 people.

The recovery rate in India stands at 82.58%, which is one of the highest in the world.

India’s death rate has come down to 1.57%, said the data from the Union health ministry.

Maharashtra continues to be the worst-hit state in the country with a total of 13,39,232 positive cases.

The disease has claimed the lives of a total of 35,571 positive patients in Maharashtra.

Maharashtra is followed by Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) data, a total of 7,09,394 sample tests were conducted across the country in a single day on Sunday.

India so far has conducted a total of 7,19,67,230 COVID19 tests.

Globally, India rallies behind the US, which has recorded 71,13,666 positive cases and 2,04,750 deaths.

The total number of COVID19 positive cases in the world stood at 3,29,77,556 as of Monday morning and the total number of deaths increased to 9,96,674.
