As the number of COVID-19 cases increases in India day-by-day, two Indian researchers have teamed up and designed a robot capable of cleaning cities and sanitizing it.

The main aim of this step is to minimize the human exposure in the affected area and stop the spread of coronavirus in humans.

This breakthrough has been done by Devendra Shah, an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Technology IIT Kharagpur and Shashi Ranjan, an alumnus of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Delhi.

The duo has named the robot Airlance – Corona and according to them, the robot will prove to be very effective in preventing the spread of coronavirus.

“Sanitizers neutralize the protein layer of the coronavirus by distorting it and alcohol-containing sanitizers may prove effective for small spaces,” the duo said.

“But it is not within the sanitizer to get the cities free from coronavirus. Keeping in mind that oxidation through robots is the most powerful antimicrobial device, we have pioneered the release of coronaviruses by this method,” they said.

The design of the robot comes at a time when different organizations are trying their own way to prevent coronavirus infection and treat patients.
