Raktim Bhuyan of Tezpur Moonlit English School, who secured the top rank in the HSLC examination 2018, results of which were declared on Friday, aspires to be an engineer. Raktim has clinched the top spot scoring a total of 593 (98.83%) marks with letter marks in all subjects.
“Now I want to take admission in the science stream at Darrang College, Tezpur. After completing my higher secondary, I aim to study engineering at Kota in Rajasthan. I want to be a technical engineer,” Raktim told reporters here.
“I was expecting to be among the top 10 but not the top position,” said Raktim, who studied at Moonlit High School from class I. Raktim said he mostly studied in the morning hours and avoided late night study.
With interest in extracurricular activities like art, quiz, elocution and writing articles, Raktim believes that with dedication and hard work a person can fructify his ambitions.
He regularly joins various competitions like art, quiz, essay writing, article writing and speech competition and won prizes several times. Raktim’s parents Beauty and Bharat Bhuyan, who stay at Biswajit Borah Path here, are very happy with his result. Born to a lower middle class family, Raktim’s father is an owner of a small grocery shop and mom is a homemaker.
Another student, Paul Bhuyan of Tezpur Government Boys’ Higher Secondary School, has also brought laurel to his school as well as to Tezpur town securing 7th rank in the class 10 board examination. Paul scored a total of 587 marks with pass percentage 97.83.
Paul while talking with this correspondent said that he reads three to four hours daily before the examinations. He wants to pursue aeronautical engineering.
It may be mentioned that several luminaries like Rupkonwar Jyoti Prashad Agarwala, Kalaguru Bishnu Prashad Rabha, Natasurya Phani Sharma, Chandra Nath Sharma, Dandinath Kalita and Dr Bhupen Hazarika were students of Tezpur Government Boys’ Higher Secondary School.
However, during the last many years the premier school fared poorly in the board examinations. Paul today brought back the lost glory of the school with his outstanding result.
