An Army colonel posted at Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh has been booked for allegedly raping one of his friends’ wife, who is of Russian descent.
The woman was allegedly raped by the Army colonel at an officers’ mess in the Cantonment area.
According to a media report, the victim’s husband, who is a civilian, has lodged an FIR against the Army colonel at the Cantonment Police Station.
In his complaint, the victim’s husband alleged that the accused had invited him and his wife on Saturday to a party on the occasion of his promotion from lieutenant colonel to the rank of colonel, the report quoted superintendent of police (East) Raj Kumar Agarwal as saying.
But the accused allegedly offered an intoxicating drink that made him unconscious, after which the colonel raped his wife.
The complainant also alleged that the accused had assaulted the woman when she resisted him.
The complainant said his wife is of Russian descent and has been living in India for the last 10 years.
Superintendent of Police Agarwal said police have launched an investigation and efforts are to arrest the Army officer.
A case has been registered by the police under various sections of the IPC.
