The Supreme Court, on Thursday, said that the allegation of the Pegasus spyware being used prominent leaders, journalists and others are “serious if newspaper reports are correct”.
The top Court has said that “truth has to come out” in the Pegasus snoop gate issue.
A two-judge bench of the Supreme Court headed by Chief Justice NV Ramana made these remarks while hearing a bunch of petitions seeking probe into the scandal.
The Apex Court also directed the petitioners to serve copies of their petitions to the offices of the Attorney General of India and the Solicitor General.

The Supreme Court also said that it wants to see a representative from the Government during the next hearing on the case on August 10.
“Somebody should appear for the Government,” Chief Justice NV Ramana said.
Petitions were filed in the Supreme Court by senior journalists including N Ram, Editors Guild of India and Rajya Sabha Member John Brittas, who were allegedly targeted by Pegasus spyware.
However, the Supreme Court dismissed the demands for probe into the matter, saying that the government has been maintaining that there has been no unauthorised interception by its agencies.
