Heartthrob of the young generation Zubeen Garg enthralled the people of Majuli with his mesmerising performance in the island district on Wednesday night.
During his show, Zubeen said, “I do not belong to any religion or community. A bridge is much needed to lessen the prolonged problems the people of Majuli have been facing since long. The pain of the patients is really miserable.”
The popular singer said this during his performance at a Bihu programme in Gormur Mini Stadium at Majuli. The two-day Bihu programme concluded on May 16, 2018.
A large number of his fans thronged the stadium to enjoy the musical night with Zubeen Garg.
Zubeen further appealed to the people to stand in unison against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2016 which seeks to grant Indian citizenship to illegal migrants who are Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains, Parsis and Christians from Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Pakistan and came to the country till December 31, 2014.
On the Central government’s move to bring in illegal Hindu Bangladeshis to Assam by implementing the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2016, Zubeen questioned from the stage, “Why is the government doing the import-export business of human beings?”
“We haven’t gone to Bangladesh in search of jobs. Why are the Bangladeshis here then? The Assam government should have merged Bangladesh with Assam,” Zubeen said.
Zubeen enthralled his fans by performing numbers from his albums ‘Maya’, ‘Anamika’, ‘Mission China’ and so on throughout the night.
While singing his popular number ‘Majulit Ejani Suwaliye Dukh Pale’, the singer said that he would sing the song till his last breathe.
