Zubeen Garg, actor, singer was announced the Brand Ambassador for creating TB awareness in Assam.

The renovation work on the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi Tuberculosis (TB) Hospital is finally on the verge of completion after lying neglected for a long time.

The Central Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), sanctioned Rs 52 crores in September 2012 for the construction of the new hospital.

The construction is underway and the renovated TB hospital will soon become operational.

The new hospital will have 200 beds and equipped with facilities like CT scan, full-fledged laboratory, CBNAAT machines, and conference hall for training, X-ray and ultrasound facilities, informed authorities.

TB is an infectious disease which is caused by bacteria and usually affects the lungs. It can, however, affect the brain and the spine too. Some of the common symptoms of the disease include chronic cough, blood-containing sputum, night sweats, fever and weight loss.
