Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb on Wednesday exhorted the newly elected members of the three-tier panchayat in the State to work for the welfare of the people.

While addressing a rally in front of Rabindra Bhavan in Agartala, Deb also called upon them to judiciously execute the welfare schemes of the Central and the State Government.

The rally was organized to mark the party’s massive victory in the three-tier Panchayat by-election.

Apart from the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Barma, Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath and party’s two general secretaries – Rajib Bhattacharjee and Pratima Bhowmik were also present in the rally.

The BJP has captured power in the three- tier Panchayat with a one-sided by-election as the party emerged victories in 99.37 per cent seats.

The BJP won 3179 seats of gram panchayat seats out of total 3207 seats and 159 seats of panchayat samities of the total 161 seats.

The party also had a clean sweep in zilla parisads by winning all the 18 seats.

The Chief Minister called upon all to work unitedly to make Tripura a model state.
