Wellington Priori of Jamshedpur FC celebrates the goal during match 69 of the Hero Indian Super League between Jamshedpur FC and NorthEast United FC held at the JRD Tata Sports Complex, Jamshedpur,.

The stunning goal from an overhead kick by Wellington Priori gave Jamshedpur FC a vital 1-0 victory over NorthEast United FC (NEUFC).

With this win, Jamshedpur FC reached the position of top four in the Hero Indian Super League.

In a row, Steve Coppell’s side have won three matches at the JRD Tata Sports Complex, and occupied the third spot with 25 points.

As per reports, Priori’s incredible goal came in the 50th minute.

It was a long throw from Azuka that found Wellington in the box. He controlled it with his thigh and then executed the perfect overhead kick to give Jamshedpur FC the lead.

Priori’s strike has been considered as one of the best of the season and overshadowed goalkeeper Subrata Paul’s achievement of becoming the first man to keep 20 clean sheets in the ISL.

After a goalless first session, the deadlock was broken minutes after Coppell had introduced Mehtab for Ashim Biswas.

On the other hand, for NorthEast United, Doungel was picked out by Lalthlamuana with a fine cross but the header was wayward and Jamshedpur FC went ahead.

The best chance for NEUFC to level matters came in the 80th minute when Chhetri couldn’t keep his header on target from point-blank range.

In the 94th minute Choudhary of Jamshedpur FC was one-on-one against Rehenesh, but the goalkeeper saved it in a brilliant way.

NEUFC’s first spell of dominance petered away after a comic handball from Lalrindika in the box. He tried to head it but also reached out with his arm. The referee after noticing it brandished yellow.

There were better chances to come, but NEUFC could not make them count.
