Pro-talk ULFA leader Anup Chetia on Thursday said no insurgent groups can achieve their goal through violent activities like blast.
“I have no idea who is involved in the blast. But one thing is clear; they cannot achieve their goal through such acts,” Chetia told reporters on the sidelines of a programme at Guwahati Press Club here.
Chetia’s comment comes following a grenade blast on RG Baruah road in front of a shopping mall in Guwahati on Wednesday evening.
At least eight persons sustained injuries when a grenade exploded in front of Guwahati Central shopping mall right opposite to State Zoo on RG Baruah road here.
Proscribed ULFA-I, the anti-talks faction led by Paresh Baruah, has claimed responsibility for the blast.
Condemning the blast, Chetia said if ULFA (I) is involved in the blast, they should abstain from such acts as it does not help a rebel outfit to achieve their ultimate goal.
“I have called upon the insurgents groups to ponder on this. Some innocent peons have been injured in the incident. No one wants to suffer from such acts,” Chetia said.
Police have launched massive search operations at different places of the city and arrested a woman and a pro-talk ULFA leader in connection with the blast on Thursday.
