A cadre of the United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent (ULFA-I) was apprehended in Dibrugarh district during a joint operation by the 9th Battalion of Rajputana Rifles and police on Monday.
The joint anti-insurgency operation was carried out at Koliapani village near Naharkatia in Dibrugarh district.
The ULFA(I) cadre has been identified as Anoop Gogoi. From the possession of the ULFA-I cadre Anoop, a 9 mm pistol along with two rounds of live bullet were recovered by the joint operating team..
The apprehended militant has been handed over to the Naharkatia Police Station and an FIR has been lodged under Sections 121(A), 120(B), R/W Sec 25(I) (A) of Arms Act 1959 and R/W Sec 10/13 UA(P) Act 1967.
According to sources, the militant has been interrogated by senior army and police officials.
