In an interesting development to the on-going impasse at the Manipur University, an unsigned statement issued by PRO office of the University has notified all concerned that any form of procession, rally, agitation, sit-in protest and hunger strike inside the University Campus is against the Code of Conduct of the University’s Ordinance.

The statement further requested all the students, teachers and non-teaching staff of the University to abide by the Code of the Conduct and to refrain from such ‘unlawful acts’.

‘In his continuous endeavour to resolve the on-going crisis of the University, the Vice Chancellor is in constant touch with the Chief Minister, Governor of Manipur and other higher authorities concerned’, it stated.

“The VC has appealed to the guardians of the students to extend their support in order to resolve the current issue so that the pending examination results of the students can be declared immediately while we are trying to resolve the issue,” it further said while adding that the Vice Chancellor has also made an appeal to the public and students organizations to make education a ‘free zone’ in the larger interest of the student community.

Stating that it would be an ‘irrepressible loss’ to the students who are waiting for the semester examinations and examination results if one year of their academic career is hampered by the on-going agitations, the Vice Chancellor also ‘extended his appeal to the agitating students to make academic activities function normally as usual for the sake of the suffering students of the State’.
