A woman on Sunday night was raped and murdered at Khilpara area of Udaipur in Gomti district of Tripura.

The lady worked as a daily labourer and her husband worked at a brick kiln at Natunbazar area of Amarpur.

Radhakishorepur police station personnel informed that when the victim’s husband returned home from work, he found her lying naked on the floor.

“Even after calling her repeatedly, the lady did not respond,” the police said.

“Hearing his cries the neighbours rushed to the spot and took the victim to the Udaipur Subdivisional Hospital where the doctors declared her dead on arrival,” the police added.

Police suspect that the lady was raped and then murdered.

The body has been sent to Gomoti District Hospital for post-mortem.

Till the filing of this report, four persons have been detained by the police for interrogation.

Sunday’s incident comes barely 6 days after when a 32-year-year old woman was gang-raped by ten men on September 24 last.
