Senior Tripura Congress leader Subal Bhowmik has joined the Trinamool Congress (TMC) in Agartala on Thursday evening.

Along with Subal Bhowmik, former Tripura minister Prakash Chandra Das and several others joined the TMC on Thursday evening.

Subal Bhowmik was also the Tripura BJP president before joining the Congress in 2019.

Earlier on Thursday, Subal Bhowmik was seen meeting the top TMC leaders, including MP Derek O’Brien, who are in Agartala.

Notably, top TMC leader Abhishek Banerjee, who is also the nephew of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, is slated to visit Tripura on Friday.

Notably, the TMC in Tripura has grown in strength over the last couple of months, with thousands of ground level workers joining the party.

The TMC in Tripura has witnessed massive induction of party workers ever since it secured an emphatic win in the West Bengal elections held earlier this year.

The TMC has now emerged as the main opposition party in Tripura in terms of party strength, even though it does not have even a single legislator in the State Assembly.
