Ten children were rescued from a ‘math’ (a religious place or a temple-like) in Muzafar Nagar of Uttar Pradesh.

Four of them from Kanchanpur of Tripura and six of them from Mamit district of Mizoram, said Nilima Ghosh, Tripura Commission for Protection for Child Rights (TCPCR).

She said, the children were rescued by the Uttar Pradesh police few days back.

They are now in a shelter home.

Some legal procedures are pending now, while matters sort out, the children will be brought back to their states.

Nilima Ghosh said that the ‘math’ owner took these children from their parents saying that they will be provided education and work.

It has learnd that, the children who were rescued are between eight to 15 years old.

Only one boy is 18-year-old.

It has confirmed that, those who were rescued, were sexually abused by the ‘math’ owner, who is a religious ‘guru’.

The alleged ‘guru’ was arrested, named Bhakti Bhusen Gobinda Maharaj.

His associate Akhilesh Das was also arrested.

National Commission for protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) also informed about the matter.

They had a meeting with their Tripura, Mizoram and Uttar Pradesh chapter.

Nilima Ghosh attended that virtual meeting.

NCPCR alleged that, the Maharaj and his associate gave drugs to the children and also showed porn clips, and sexually abused them.

Nilima Ghosh said just two years back 18 children of Tripura were rescued from Bihar.
