A nine-month-old infant died from snakebite in Tripura in Champak Nagar area of Belonia sub-division in South Tripura district.
The deceased has been Ritwick Bhowmik and he was bitten by the snake while he was sleeping in his room.
As the snake bit him, he screamed in agony and this alerted his father Subrata Bhoumik, who rushed to the room immediately and saw the venomous snake crawling out of the room.
The family members took the 9-month-old to the nearby Matai primary health centre, however, the on-duty doctors referred him to the Belonia Hospital.
However, the doctors at Belonia Hospital declared the infant child dead on arrival.
