Tripura government on Sunday announced lockdown relaxation in several sectors and allowed a number of industries to operate with effect from Monday (April 20).

“In pursuance of the Order …dated April 15, 20, the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India has allowed selected permitted activities to be operated w.e.f  April 20, 2020 based on strict compliance to the existing guidelines on lockdown measures and subject to ensuring all preparatory arrangements with respect to social distancing,” a memorandum of the state government stated.

According to the memorandum, manufacturing of fertilizers, pesticides, seeds and operation of tea coffee and rubber plantations with a maximum of 50 per staff have been permitted to operate with effect from Monday.

The other industrial activities permitted include processing, packaging, sale and marketing of coffee, tea and cashew with a maximum of 50 per cent staff and operation of industries in rural areas.

Manufacturing and other industrial establishments with access control in industrial estates and industrial townships have also been allowed to operate.

Manufacturing units of essential goods, food processing industries in rural areas, production units that require continuous processes and their supply chain and manufacturing of IT hardware have also been permitted to operate.

Coal production, mines and mineral production, their transportation, the supply of explosives and activities incidental to mining operations have been allowed to function.

The other industries allowed to function include manufacturing units of packaging materials, jute industries with staggered shifts and social distancing.

Oil and gas exploration/refinery, brick kilns in rural areas, activities related to bamboo plantations (harvesting, processing, packaging, sale, and marketing) have been permitted by the state government.
