Residents of Agartala woke up to a bone-chilling cold on Monday as the city experienced the coldest day of the season.

The minimum temperature in Agartala was recorded at 7.5 degrees Celsius on Monday morning, which is five degrees less than normal.

A cold wind has been blowing across the capital in the morning for the last few days.

The weather continued to be foggy resulting in low visibility and hampering the movement of vehicles on the roads.

Several flights arriving from different parts of the country to the Agartala Airport have also been delayed because of the fog.

The weather on Sunday was also cold with the maximum temperature being 23.2 degree Celsius and the minimum temperatures being recorded at 8.4 degree Celsius.

The regional meteorological department said that cold waves in the city will continue for four to five more days.
