Tripura chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb launched bamboo cookies and bamboo-made honey bottles on the occasion of International Bamboo Day.

The bamboo cookies are made of bamboo shoots and other ingredients.

“On the occasion of World Bamboo day launched Bamboo Cookies and Bamboo made honey bottle,” chief minister Deb tweeted.

“Bamboo cookies and honey bottle will now add another feather to our cap. It will generate livelihood opportunities for many,” Deb added.

After receiving a wide appreciation for bringing cost-effective bamboo bottles in the market, the Bamboo and Cane Development Institute (BCDI) has come up with the bamboo cookies.

BCDI’s Tripura head Avinav Kant said the cookies are made from the shoots of ‘Muli bamboo’, which is available in abundance in Tripura and other Northeastern states.

“Bamboo cookies are made naturally which makes them healthy and nutritious. I appreciate the hard work of BCDI and Dr. Abhinav Kant for this innovative idea,” chief minister Deb said.

“The bamboo cookies have the capacity to empower rural people. Since the government is focussed on providing the Tripura youths, self-reliant platforms, these initiatives will encourage more people to choose innovative ways of doing trade,” the CM said while addressing an event at the Civil Secretariat.

The chief minister said bamboo cookies will fulfil Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Atma Nirbhar Bharat.

After launching the bamboo cookies and bamboo-made honey bottles on Friday on the occasion of International Bamboo Day, the Tripura chief minister told the media that both the new products would boost the people’s immunity and livelihood as well.
