Agartala: The Border Security Force (BSF) has intensified security measures along the Indo-Bangla border in Tripura in response to the current law & order situation in Bangladesh.

The protests in Bangladesh erupted due to anti-reservation protests.

Given Tripura’s geographical position, surrounded on three sides by Bangladesh, the unrest poses significant security challenges and implications.

According to a BSF press release, a major concern is the safe return of the approximately 8,000 Indian students studying in Bangladesh, most of whom are enrolled in medical colleges.

These students are predominantly located in Comilla, Brahmanbaria, and Dhaka.

Many have been crossing into India through four Integrated Check Posts (ICPs) and Land Customs Stations (LCSs), notably via Agartala in West Tripura district and Srimantapur in Sepahijala district.

“Yesterday, the BSF facilitated the entry of 365 students, with around 300 entering through ICP Srimantapur in Sepahijala District,” the press release stated.

The BSF has implemented comprehensive arrangements at these ICPs to ensure the students’ safe arrival, including provisions for refreshments, food packets, transportation, and medical aid.

The BSF is working in close coordination with the local administration and other agencies to ensure a seamless process.

Officers have been directed to personally supervise the students’ arrival at the ICPs to prevent any inconvenience.

Anticipating more students to cross over in the coming days, the BSF is fully prepared to provide all necessary assistance and ensure their safe return home.

The ongoing law and order situation is a security concern, and the BSF is committed to preventing any criminal elements from exploiting the current disturbances.

Troops are on high alert, and maximum personnel have been mobilized and deployed to the border. Senior commanders are stationed at the border to ensure a high level of operational preparedness.

“The BSF is fully committed to securing our country’s borders in Tripura and is prepared to handle any challenges that may arise from the current situation,” the release added.
